Women in the Military: From Drill Sergeants to Fighter Pilots

This study examines women’s expanding roles in the United States armed forces through personal stories and historical examples. It covers work including nursing, ambulance driving, administration, mechanics, aviation, surveillance, ship command, and front-line combat. It also addresses discrimination women have faced, including limited advancement, economic inequity, inadequate veteran support, sexual harassment, and rape. The 2015 Pentagon change allowing women in front-line ground combat is among the developments discussed.
