White Rose

This novel in verse follows Sophie Scholl and Germany’s anti-Nazi White Rose Movement during World War II. It begins after Sophie and her brother Hans are arrested for distributing leaflets opposing the Nazi regime, then moves among her interrogation, earlier life and activism, and the day of their arrest. The narrative also includes the search for those producing the leaflets and perspectives from Sophie’s interrogators. Sophie’s spiritual and political resistance is met with hostility toward her gender and actions.
