While You Are Sleeping

While a child sleeps, life continues beyond the window. Outside, people work, eat, walk dogs, and look at the stars. The book tells this parallel nighttime activity without words, using collage images that move between realistic and fantastic scenes. Images also appear in the sleeping boy’s dreams. It presents the world beyond a child’s room as both ordinary and imaginative while the child remains asleep.
