When I Wrap My Hair

This picture book centers on hair wrapping and the stories carried through that tradition. It connects the practice to deep roots, African marketplaces, city sidewalks, and the knowledge passed between generations. With illustrations by Jenin Mohammed, the book celebrates Black hair traditions across continents and presents hair wrapping as a link between past and present and between African American heritage and family knowledge.
