Things Seen from Above

Sixth grader April forms a relationship with Joey, a fourth-grade child who keeps to himself and makes unusual designs in the playground dirt. Through art and their growing friendship, the two outsiders uncover stories that had been hidden from them. April also begins to learn about perspective. Digital and pencil illustrations accompany this account of connection, observation, and the meanings people can find in what they create together.
