Ana on the Edge

Twelve-year-old Ana-Marie Jin is a U.S. juvenile figure-skating champion who is uneasy when her next program is built around princesses. While preparing a routine for national competition, she meets Hayden, a transgender boy who has just arrived at the rink. Hayden reads Ana as a boy, and Ana does not correct him; around him, that identity feels comfortable. As skating expectations and questions of gender become intertwined, Ana is increasingly drawn toward a non-binary identity.
