The Way Home in the Night
Akiko Miyakoshi
A mother rabbit carries her young bunny home through quiet streets at night. Along the way, the bunny notices lights in neighbors’ windows and wonders about their evening activities. The pair can see, hear, and smell signs of people talking on the phone, taking a pie from the oven, gathering for a party, and saying goodbye. When they arrive home, the bunny’s father puts the child to bed. Soft pencil, charcoal, and gouache illustrations accompany the nighttime walk.
