The Whydah: A Pirate Ship Feared, Wrecked, and Found

This nonfiction book tells the story of the Whydah, a large, fast, heavily armed ship that had been used in the slave trade. Pirates led by Samuel Bellamy captured it in 1716 and filled it with treasure. The ship sank in a 1717 storm off Cape Cod and was rediscovered on the ocean floor in the 1980s. The account also explores piracy, its cruelty, and elements of pirate culture.
