The Water Lady: How Darlene Arviso Helps a Thirsty Navajo Nation

This picture-book account follows Darlene Arviso as she delivers water by tanker truck to homes on the Navajo reservation. When Cody’s family runs out of water, he learns about the Water Lady’s route as she fills her truck at a water tower and travels from home to home. Over a month, she serves more than 200 families before beginning again. At Cody’s house, she refills the family’s barrels with clean water, which they use carefully and sparingly.
