On Rashin’s first day at school in the United States, familiar shapes appear everywhere: in her breakfast, an umbrella, wheels, and the things she passes on a rainy walk. These observations also bring back memories of walking to school in Iran. In class, Rashin and her classmates introduce themselves and compare the outlines of their home countries to familiar objects. Together, they consider what shape their new home, the United States, might resemble.
