Powwow Day
Traci Sorell
River hopes to dance at her tribal powwow, but she is still regaining her energy after an illness. She cannot take part in the Grand Entry, intertribal dance, or the jingle dance she especially wants to join. When River is discouraged, her friend Dawn dances for her. Watching her community dance for the Creator, ancestors, families, and everyone’s health helps River imagine returning to dance at a future powwow.
