Hollis is seventeen, fat, broke, and anxious as senior year starts. Although she has a boyfriend named Chris, she is frustrated that she cannot join his role-playing game. Hollis finds an all-female role-playing group instead. Through this new community and the game, she begins to discover her true self during her final year of high school. The novel brings together anxiety, friendship, a romantic relationship, and role-playing games.
