The Moon Without Stars

Luna Noon is a seventh grader in the San Francisco Bay Area who creates magazines with her friend Scott Mango to help teenagers with problems. Her zine’s success changes her social position and alters the shape of her friendships. As Luna joins new friends, their magazines become critical and hurtful toward other people. She recognizes that her behavior has worsened and tries to return to the person she was. The novel explores friendship dynamics, identity, and Luna’s use of bibliotherapy.
