Maya experiences a warm glow while picking strawberries in a community garden, listening to neighborhood music, and spending time with people she loves. Other moments bring a different feeling: she is pushed on the playground, hears worries about bills, and sees a cousin stopped by police. As these feelings grow difficult to carry, Maya learns to honor them, drawing on the example of Black women throughout history.
