The Leaving Room

Gospel is a Keeper in the Leaving Room, where young people pause after death before moving on. Her work is to help their souls through that passage, but she cannot leave herself. When another Keeper named Melodee enters through an unexpected door, the two become connected. Gospel’s seriousness begins to ease, while Melodee becomes less afraid of closeness. Their growing love raises a question about whether Keepers are permitted such a relationship as they seek a way out.
