The King of Jam Sandwiches

Eighth graders Robbie and Harmony begin their relationship after a punch in the nose. They grow closer when they discover that each is coping with a dysfunctional single parent. Robbie lives with his dad, whose parenting differs from that of most parents, though others do not know this. The novel is told in the first person and draws on author Eric Walters’s childhood. Its focus is the connection between two young people facing difficult family circumstances.
