The Dollar Kids
Jennifer Richard Jacobson
Lowen’s family buys a house for one dollar in a struggling small town trying to attract new families for its school and sports teams. The move is meant to offer the family a fresh start, but it brings another set of problems. Lowen, a twelve-year-old comic-book artist, is still grieving the shooting death of his friend Abe. The story follows the family’s arrival in town and Lowen’s response to loss and change. Occasional comic-strip illustrations appear in the book.
