THE DO-OVER

Since their parents separated, sisters Raquel and Lucinda Mendoza have been growing apart. During pandemic lockdown, a stay at their father's ranch gives Raquel an idea: perhaps bringing their mother there could reunite the family. But their father's new girlfriend and her daughter are already living at the ranch, and Lucinda finds that she likes them. Raquel's increasingly determined attempts to restore the past put more pressure on her relationship with her sister. Jennifer Torres's novel explores divorce, changing households, and the difficulty of accepting a family that no longer looks the way it once did.
