Telephone Tales

A traveling salesman phones his daughter each evening to tell her a bedtime tale. The calls take place in the era of pay phones, so he must fit each story into the brief time a single coin provides. The collection contains sixty-seven playful, surreal stories, including imagined places with ice-cream palaces, instructional candy, and chocolate-covered roads. One tale follows an older man who boards a carousel loved by children to discover its appeal, rising high above the world as it turns.
