Songs for Ghosts

Seventeen-year-old Adam finds an old diary in his attic, written a century earlier by a young woman in Nagasaki. Drawn into her account of life, relationships, heartbreak, and ghosts, he initially dismisses the supernatural details. When her spirit begins to haunt him, Adam searches for her identity and for the harm done to her. His investigation brings him to Nagasaki, where he learns more about Japanese language and culture, reconnects with his heritage, and meets long-lost relatives. The story is inspired by Madame Butterfly.
