Sheine Lende

Shane and her mother earn a living by locating missing people, sometimes accepting no payment when families cannot afford their help. Their work is accompanied by ghost dogs, giving the novel a supernatural dimension. The family has been separated from its traditional home since a devastating flood, and Shane also lives with the deaths of her father and grandparents. Hope of returning home is unsettled when Shane’s mother and a local boy disappear after an unusual encounter involving a fairy ring.
