Serengeti: Plains of Grass

Interconnected poems portray the Serengeti as a web in which plant and animal life depends on a delicate balance. Inspired by the East African Swahili utendi verse form, the poetic sequence follows wildebeest, zebras, and other animals during their migration into and out of a vast short-grass plain. Gouache and pastel artwork accompanies the verses, while a glossary and back matter provide additional context.
