See the Cat: Three Stories About a Dog
David LaRochelle
In three short chapters, a dog speaks back to the book that is telling his story. The first text insists that readers see a cat, but the character shown is a dog who objects to being called one. As the narration adds increasingly unlikely details about the supposed cat, the dog grows more exasperated. A cat eventually arrives riding a unicorn, leaving the dog embarrassed. In the next story, he responds by taking charge and editing the printed words with a pencil.
