Say Something, Poupeh Babaee!

Poupeh Babaee, an Iranian girl, moves to the United States to live with relatives while a national travel ban keeps her parents from joining her. Although she understands and speaks English, the stress of a new school, a different country, and bullying leads to a diagnosis of selective mutism. Poupeh needs to speak during an interview with an embassy officer to help her parents immigrate, or the family may remain separated. With therapy, friendship, and courage, she works toward reclaiming her voice for herself and her family’s future.
