Saving Wonder

Curley Hines lives with his grandfather in Wonder Gap, Kentucky, after coal mining has taken the lives of his father, mother, and brother. When a mining company prepares to destroy Red Hawk Mountain, Curley must decide whether to fight for the mountain he calls home. He draws on the words his grandfather has taught him, even though the struggle may cost him the life he knows. The story is set in the Appalachian mountains and centers on mining, loss, and protecting a home place.
