Run Like a Girl

Track athlete Chidera, known as Dera, temporarily moves in with her estranged Nigerian immigrant father. At her new school, there is no girls’ track team, threatening her hope of earning a track scholarship and eventually competing in the Olympics. She joins the boys’ team with the administration’s approval, but classmates and teammates respond with hostility. A classmate later features Dera in a blog, bringing her attention from people online and at school.
