Ruby Bridges: A Talk with My Teacher

Ruby Bridges recalls Mrs. Henry, the first-grade teacher she had when she integrated William Frantz Elementary School as the first Black child to attend it. Ruby and Mrs. Henry become close friends, but Ruby is distressed when Mrs. Henry is not her teacher the following year. The story follows their separation and their eventual reunion, while looking at the lasting place a teacher can hold in a student’s life.
