Pop! Goes the Nursery Rhyme
Betsy Bird, illustrated by Andrea Tsurumi
A secretary bird sets out to narrate a traditional nursery-rhyme collection in an orderly fashion. A feisty weasel repeatedly barges into the recitation, disrupting rhymes such as “Little Miss Muffet” and “Jack and Jill.” As the bird tries to restore order, the interruptions send the familiar tales in increasingly chaotic directions. The book remixes nursery rhymes through a conflict between careful narration and exuberant mischief.
