Ode to My First Car

After damaging her car, Claire takes a job in a nursing home to pay for the repairs. Claire, who is bisexual, meets Lena, an elderly lesbian woman. Lena shares stories about growing up gay in the 1950s and 1960s, and Claire recognizes connections between their lives. As Claire spends time with Lena, she becomes more confident in her identity. The book is written in verse and includes occasional black-and-white illustrations.
