Seventeen-year-old Maya Aziz is pulled between her India-born parents’ expectations of college and marriage to a suitable Muslim boy, and her own hopes of studying film in New York and dating Phil. After a terrorist attack elsewhere, fear and hostility reach Maya’s small town. Her family becomes a target because the act is believed to have been committed by a Muslim, disrupting Maya’s plans and changing her life.
