Just under the Clouds

In Brooklyn, twelve-year-old Cora is homeless after her father’s death. Her mother is trying to keep the family together, and Cora helps care for her younger sister, Adare. Cora remembers her father’s advice about climbing trees, while she worries about how the family will find a home. Adare rarely speaks, dislikes wearing shoes, and seems less troubled than Cora by the uncertainty. The story follows Cora’s responsibility, grief, and search for belonging.
