Escape from Aleppo

Nadia’s story begins with a birthday celebration in her family’s dining room, centered on a cake decorated with pink roses. Later, while fleeing the Syrian civil war, she becomes separated from her family. Over four days in Aleppo, an older man helps her through checkpoints and past snipers connected with rebel, ISIS, and Syrian forces. Nadia’s journey leads toward the Turkish border, where she hopes to reunite with her father. The novel places her family separation within the violence of war.
