If Looks Could Kill

In 1888, Salvation Army volunteers Tabitha and Pearl work among poor New Yorkers. The two teenagers have sharply different temperaments, but they join journalist Frayda in an undercover effort to help Cora, a girl trafficked by a brothel owner. At the same time, Jack the Ripper leaves London for New York as Medusa pursues him. The story combines historical settings and social service work with a mythic figure seeking vengeance.
