I Love Salmon and Lampreys

Brook Thompson connects her upbringing in the Yurok and Karuk Tribes with the salmon and lampreys of Northern California’s Klamath River. She describes how dams made it difficult for these fish to live and how Tribal people and their allies organized to remove four dams. The Native-led effort succeeded in restoring fish habitat and pursuing environmental justice. Thompson also tells how these experiences motivated her to become a scientist.
