A Line Can Go Anywhere: The Brilliant, Resilient Life of Artist Ruth Asawa

This picture-book biography tells of sculptor Ruth Aiko Asawa, who was known as Aiko by some people and Ruth by others. Growing up on a Southern California farm, she later faced the incarceration of her family alongside other Japanese Americans during World War II. At Santa Anita and the Rohwer Relocation Center, she drew the landscapes, guard towers, and barbed wire around her. Those lines later informed art that made her an influential twentieth-century artist.
