Gigi Shin Is Not a Nerd

Jiyoung “Gigi” Shin loves making things, from unusual outfits to self-cut hair. She wants to become an artist and draws at school, in choir, and at home. Gigi’s working-class immigrant parents want her to concentrate on schoolwork and choose a more practical path. She feels most like herself in art class and when spending lunch with friends Carolina and Zeina. She also starts a tutoring club to pay for art camp.
