Joanna Gordon has openly identified herself for years. After her radio-evangelist father remarries, the family leaves Atlanta for Rome, Georgia, a place described as more conservative. Her father asks Joanna to conceal that part of herself through the remainder of her final school year. The move, her father’s request, and Joanna’s established openness create a conflict between family expectations and identity.
