Garlic is a personified garlic head who lives in a garden with other vegetables brought to life by Witch Agnes. She worries that she disappoints those around her and prefers the safety of her garden plot. When a vampire arrives at a nearby castle, Celery insists that Garlic should investigate. Garlic is frightened, but leaves because she believes it is the right thing to do. After Celery abandons the trip, Garlic continues alone and finds that the vampire is gentler than she expected.
