Fib, The

Pepe, a second grader, wants an exciting story for show-and-tell, so he invents a creature unlike any ordinary animal. His fib gives the creature ram-like horns, bear-like claws, bat wings, owl eyes, and a lion’s tail. The imagined being then becomes real and frightening, forcing Pepe to confront what he has said. The story follows the consequences of his lie and Pepe’s recognition that telling the truth matters.
