Fanny's Big Idea: How Jewish Book Week Was Born

This biography follows Fanny Goldstein, who arrived in America from Russia at age six and found free library books and activities at the Saturday Evening Girls Club. Her curiosity led to work at the Boston Public Library, where she later became the first Jewish director of a branch library. Seeing few Jewish families borrow books about their own history, Fanny organized a weeklong celebration of Jewish books and culture that grew into a national event.
