All the Stars in the Sky

Clay wants to be his school’s star of the week, so he asks his Cherokee grandmother, Elisi, for help. Her response introduces him to gadugi: the responsibility to work together and support the whole community instead of elevating one person. Clay wonders what this means for his own importance. Traditional beadwork appears in the artwork as the story considers community, individualism, and responsibility from an Indigenous perspective.
