Evie and Rhino

In 1891, a storm off southern Australia wrecks a ship transporting exotic animals. Ten-year-old Evie, who has stopped speaking after the storm that killed her parents, lives with her grandfather in their decaying old house. Once the weather clears, she goes down to the shore and finds a young rhinoceros. Evie and Rhino form a bond, but Rhino belongs to the Royal Melbourne Zoological Society, raising the question of whether she can keep him.
