Displaced

Fourteen-year-old Kimathi's life in western Kenya changes when a contested election erupts in violence. His father is killed, their home is destroyed, and Kimathi flees with his mother and sister to a camp for people displaced within Kenya. He must adapt to tent living, prejudice at school, and difficulty obtaining supplies. With friends at the camp, Kimathi helps develop a plan for a dependable water source as his family works to rebuild.
