After Danté and his mother lose their home, they move in with his uncles and cousin. He misses Luna Park, his friends, and the neighborhood where he lived, while his mother works toward having a home of their own again. Uncle Ron, a saxophone player, gives Danté a small saxophone and teaches him to play. Danté names the instrument Luna, practices through the summer, and eventually performs a short song with his uncles’ band.
