Child of Spring

Basanta lives in a 1960s Indian village and works as a young servant for a wealthy family. She plays with children who have even less than she does, while struggling with her own circumstances. Impulsive and passionate, Basanta becomes involved in the lives of friends and neighbors without always anticipating the results. When she finally possesses a ring worn by her young mistress, it does not prove to be the wonderful object she expected.
