Captain

In 1915, fifteen-year-old Billy is the youngest soldier in a British platoon preparing to sail for Gallipoli. Other soldiers tease him for being too young to drink or shave, and Billy knows he is also too young to be fighting in a war that terrifies him. He meets Captain, a refugee boy, and Captain’s donkey, Hey-ho. Amid the fear and cruelty of World War I, their relationship gives Billy experiences of bravery, loyalty, and friendship.
