Buckle Up: (A Graphic Novel)

Lonnie is adjusting to his parents’ divorce, living with his mother and sister while missing time with his father. Brief drives to and from school become an important space for father and son. Lonnie’s dad uses those rides to raise subjects that are difficult to discuss elsewhere, including divorce, sexuality, and racism. As Lonnie grows accustomed to this new family arrangement and to these conversations, he works toward a closer connection with his dad.
