Over five days at Zoo Atlanta, scientist and researcher Caitlin O’Connell looks at animals and the work of their caretakers. The book features pandas, elephants, gorillas, meerkats, flamingos, hornbills, fruit bats, and bongos. It follows the zoo’s daily routines, such as feeding, socializing, and sleeping, as well as problems involving weather, illness, and an animal getting loose. Photographs, ink illustrations, sources, a bibliography, and an index accompany the behind-the-scenes account.
