Brave

Each morning, a Native American boy’s father brushes and braids his long hair. The braiding can hurt, and classmates tease him at school, but he remembers family stories about his father and grandfather being forced to cut their hair and forbidden to practice their traditions. They fought so that he could wear his hair long. Through the father-son routine, the boy finds strength and pride in his braid and Native identity.
