Both Can Be True

Told through alternating voices, this story centers on Daniel and Ash, two young people who meet while helping a dog. Ash is nonbinary and experiences gender in changing ways; Daniel and Ash develop attraction as their connection grows. The relationship becomes uncertain when Daniel learns Ash is nonbinary. Their shared effort to rescue the dog leads them to confront questions of identity, acceptance, and what they can understand about one another. Occasional black-and-white illustrations appear throughout.
